Sustainability at M4C
We work hard to reduce our impact on the environment, improve our
impact on the local community and provide the best possible service
to our customers. We are constantly looking for new and innovative
ways to do this, while working with the specific challenges a small
business presents.
"Sustainability is at the very heart of our business, working with other
businesses to develop, manage and promote their social and environmental
activities. But this isn't just a business strategy; each individual
at M4C is personally committed to sustainability and actively looks
for ways to make a difference at work, at home and for our customers."
Ann Durrant, Managing Director, M4C
Highlights - 2010
- We exceeded our 10:10
target and reduced our carbon footprint by 18.9%. This means we
have cut our greenhouse gas emissions by almost 40% in two year.
- 69% of the journeys we made were by train
- We formalised our commitment to community investment and have
nominated two charities - Cre8 and IPASC. Cre8
works with hard-to-reach young people who are at risk of engaging
in anti-social and criminal behaviour while IPSAC
trains community health workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On a recent trip, Ann helped IPASC make this
video to promote their work.
- We have helped to launch and run Green
Mondays in the North West
- We now have biannual 1-to-1s
- We are committed to reducing our carbon emissions and environmental
impact further - so we have signed up to 10:10
and the
Mayday Network
- We have set targets for all our impact areas for 2011 - from planting
bee friendly flowers and composting our tea bags to developing our
knowledge of ISO26000 and conducting an eco-survey of the chapel.
- We have carried out an assessment
to identify our impact areas and actions to alleviate these impacts.
