CR Management System Self Assessment Performance Management Package

SABMiller - Multinational Brewer

SABMiller's sustainable development team needed a way to manage and evaluate the performance of their breweries globally to ensure a consistent approach to sustainable development.

M4C recognized that a system could help with this. We produced a specification tailored to their needs and business, selected a product and implemented it. The Sustainability Assessment Matrix (SAM) is now a flagship system recognised for innovation by CBI and Ethical Corporation.

Benefits – SAM has done much more than just help the team to collect data and share results.
It has:

  • given them an understanding of how the business is performing across a range of priorities
  • helped them identify areas of risk and excellence
  • ensured a consistent approach to sustainable development across the business
  • facilitated the sharing of best practice and building of relationships between breweries
  • helped everyone to plan and target their activities to address the most material issues

SAM has been a huge success and continues to incorporate and generate new ideas. We continue to work with SABMiller on this system, and deliver user training across the globe. The outputs from SAM can be viewed via www.sabmiller.com.

Environmental Management Sustainability Strategy and Communications

Astra Signs

During 2009, Astra began the process of implementing ISO14001. Alongside this they wanted to incorporate other sustainability activities into their day to day business activities. M4C provided support during ISO14001 implementation, developed a strategy for managing and building sustainability and are now helping to embed this across the business. This has included a 1 day workshop to engage staff and encourage dialogue about sustainability issues. We are continuing to work with Astra to implement and develop their sustainability strategy in 2011.

Warburtons

Warburtons work closely with their farmers as part of their overall sustainability strategy and are keen to engage with them on environmental issues. They want to set up a farmers’ forum to bring their suppliers together to improve the sustainability and environmental impact of their operations. M4C researched and produced a strategy for setting up and running the forum which covered viability, involvement, how the forum would work, communications and possible focus areas. We also produced a step by step project plan for launching the forum. It is hoped the forum will help Warburtons’ farmers to constantly improve their everyday business practices.

IPF is aligning itself with the TCF initiative and is keen to raise awareness of this amongst employees, agents and customers. In addition, they are keen to promote their vision and values to the same groups. IPF commissioned M4C to design a comprehensive yet straightforward communications strategy, covering both the TCF and the vision and values, with the aim of ensuring that each stakeholder understands what the TCF principles and vision and values are and how they are expected to apply them in practice.
